Understanding your life theme —
the common thread of your life
Jobs change, places change, people change — and yet certain questions keep coming back in your life. In Human Design, this common thread has a name: the Incarnation Cross. In seven short lessons, this course shows you what yours means — using your own chart, no prior knowledge needed.
Which chart would you like to learn with?
The course calculates your cross live from the moment of your birth: every lesson shows you the name of your own cross and your own gates. You can switch at any time.
The historical time zone is set automatically from the birthplace.
Set the time zone manually instead
Your data stays in your browser. Enter your local birth time — the time zone is taken from the birthplace.
The seven lessons at a glance
Your life theme — what keeps coming back in your life: what it’s made of, how it unfolds and what it doesn’t ask of you. Each lesson stands on its own. About 25 minutes in total.
-
The common thread
Your life theme has a name — and you probably know it already.
- Your Incarnation Cross is your life theme — the material that keeps coming back in your life.
- It’s neither a to-do list nor a prediction — you recognize it by what repeats, not by your plans.
-
What it’s made of
Two moments, each with a Sun and an Earth — and why the whole thing is called a “cross.”
- Two moments — birth and about three months earlier — each provide a Sun and an Earth: the four positions of your cross.
- The Sun has the strongest influence (about 70%); the Earth is its opposite pole — the same theme, grounded.
- In the wheel, the four positions form two axes that cross — hence the name.
-
Four gates, one name
One position leads — and the name of the cross applies to all four.
- Your conscious Sun leads — the other three positions connect its theme to other areas of life.
- The name of the cross is the shared keyword of all four gates — not just the title of the first.
-
Your quarter in the wheel
Four ways a life theme unfolds — and which one is yours.
- The wheel has four quarters: understanding, shaping, connection, transformation — four ways a theme can unfold.
- Your quarter is determined by the same Sun that leads your theme.
- A quarter isn’t an Authority for decisions — yes and no remain with Strategy and Authority.
-
The three families
How a life theme enters your life — and what your Profile has to do with it.
- Three families (angles): through your own experience, on a fixed track (only 4/1) or through encounters.
- Your Profile determines the family — the cross and the Profile belong together.
-
A look under the hood
How the name comes out of the moment of your birth — 192 crosses, 768 variations.
- Sun gate + family → name. The same birth data always produce the same cross — with no leeway.
- 64 × 3 = 192 named crosses, and with the twelve Profiles, 768 variations; extra numbers distinguish versions of the same cross name.
- Don’t confuse them: direction is a job for the Nodes, and the “Cross of Life” is a different construct.
-
Living your theme
How it unfolds, where its limits are — and everything at a glance.
- A life theme unfolds through living correctly, not through effort.
- It’s not a profession, not an obligation and not an Authority for decisions — decisions are made through Strategy and Authority.
