Maybe as a child you always had an idea of what everyone could do next and which game should come after this one. You could say Let’s do it this way, and inside it felt completely natural. And then perhaps came the confusing experience that the others didn’t follow.
Two qualities meet in you: a sense of where something could be headed, and the ability to give that direction a voice. Your strength isn’t so much carrying out every step yourself, but that people can orient themselves by your direction — when they give you that role.

What the channel means for Type and Authority
- If 7-31 is the only definition in your chart, you’re a Projector with Self-Projected Authority — the channel doesn’t connect a motor to the Throat.
- If the Sacral or a motor-to-Throat connection is added, your Type changes; the projected nature of this channel stays the same, though: it works through recognition, not pressure.
- If your Solar Plexus is defined, Emotional Authority takes precedence: you see the direction quickly, but committing to it takes time.

When the quality is mature
- Your words carry weight. When people have already given you the role, a single sentence from you does more than any amount of persuading.
- You think in long arcs. You don’t just see what would feel good right now, but which direction will hold up in the long run.
- Leadership needs a purpose here. People shouldn’t follow because you say so, but because there’s a path that makes sense and leads everyone forward together.
- You don’t have to do it all yourself. Your contribution is the direction, not carrying out every single step.
When it comes under pressure
- Trying to make leadership happen. The harder you claim the role, the more resistance you meet — your words land, but the direction doesn’t.
- Seeing it without being asked. You can see clearly what would make sense — and have to watch a group decide without you.
- Recognition becomes the measure. When it doesn’t come, it can quickly feel like a verdict on your worth rather than on the timing.
- Taking charge when no one asked. A well-meant intervention can feel like being overruled to others, even when your judgment is right.

Frequently asked questions
I only have Gate 31 (or only Gate 7) — do I have half the channel?
You have a hanging gate: the theme, but not the third quality this connection creates. People who carry the missing gate make it tangible when you’re together — then it belongs to the encounter, not permanently to you.
Does this mean I have to wait for an invitation?
The channel works through recognition — that’s not the same as a Type’s Strategy. Waiting for the invitation only applies if you’re actually a Projector — otherwise, the Strategy and Authority of your Type apply.
