Your KarmaKeys from your Human Design chart
In this method, a KarmaKey arises when Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto activates the same gate on both your red and your black chart side. This doubly activated gate is linked to one of 64 karmic themes. The calculator shows you which of them appear in your chart — and explains them so that you can check for yourself whether you recognize the described pattern from your life.

Tip: enter your local birth time. The historical UTC offset, including any daylight saving time in effect back then, is calculated from your birthplace.
Where do KarmaKeys come from? Are they part of Ra Uru Hu’s Human Design?
KarmaKeys are a later addition built on the Human Design chart. The approach used here comes from the work of Anja Hauer-Frey. It uses the gates and planetary positions of Human Design, but links certain double activations with its own karmic interpretations. These KarmaKeys were not taught by Ra Uru Hu. They do not change the Type, Strategy or Authority of your chart.
In this method the rule is: if Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto activates the same gate on the red and the black chart side, that gate is read as a KarmaKey. Saturn is assigned to soul karma, Uranus to life karma, Neptune to family karma and Pluto to ancestral karma. This assignment belongs to the KarmaKeys method; it does not follow from the astronomical calculation itself.
“Karmic” means in the sources that the origin of a present-day theme is assumed to lie in a past life, in the family or in earlier generations. That is a spiritual basic assumption. A Human Design chart can prove neither a specific past event nor a particular family cause. That is why the texts on this page always begin with the question: Do you actually recognize the described pattern from your own life today?
Source text: Anja Hauer-Frey, 64 KarmaKeys Fibel (2022), PDF pp. 5–11 and 12–75. The 64 card texts on this page are our own plain-language summaries of the themes described there. Statements about cellular memory, illnesses, specific past lives or a “healing of karma” are not adopted as facts.
For the lines and mission keys we additionally use Sabrina Eweka, 64 Karmakeys, pp. 5–12. There, the red line is described as the unconscious living-out and the black line as the more conscious working-through of the theme. Double activations at the North and South Node, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter are called mission keys; the presentation expressly stresses that these do not count as karma.
For additional double activations the two sources do not use the same terms and planetary themes everywhere. Anja Hauer-Frey speaks of “Master Life” in the 2022 edition, Sabrina Eweka of “mission keys”. Where the descriptions differ, the calculator does not turn this into a fixed individual life task but into an additional question about the respective area of life.
