Type is the first and most important layer of your chart. It describes the mechanics of your aura: how life comes to you, how you connect with others and which Strategy takes unnecessary resistance out of your life. Your Type isn’t a personality box or a ranking — think of it as the vehicle you’re traveling in, plus the instructions for driving it well.
Aura, Strategy, Signature — the building blocks of every Type
Each Type is described by four things:
- Aura: the energy field through which you affect others — open and enveloping, focused and penetrating, closed and repelling, or sampling.
- Strategy: how you engage with life in a way that’s correct for you — responding, waiting for the invitation, informing, or waiting out a lunar cycle.
- Signature: the good feeling that comes when you live in line with your Type — satisfaction, success, peace or surprise.
- Not-Self theme: the warning sign that you’re living against your Type — frustration, bitterness, anger or disappointment.
Your Type becomes something you can actually practice once you combine it with your inner Authority: your Strategy opens the right kind of contact, and your Authority tells you whether something is right for you.
The four types at a glance
Classically, there are four Types. Mechanically, the Manifesting Generator belongs to the Generator family, but because it moves at its own pace it’s often shown as a fifth Type. Here’s each one in detail:
Energy Types and non-energy Types
A useful distinction: Generators, Manifesting Generators and Manifestors have motor energy (the Sacral or other motors) — they’re energy Types. Projectors and Reflectors have no defined Sacral and are non-energy Types: they aren’t built for steady, sustained output but for guidance, wisdom and perception. That isn’t a weakness, just a different design — and living against it is the most common reason for exhaustion.
Common misconceptions
- “Some Types are better than others.” No. No Type ranks higher or is worth more — each has its own correct way of moving through life.
- “My Type tells me who I am as a person.” It describes the mechanics of your aura, not your character. Two Generators can be completely different people.
- “I can change my Type.” No. Your Type is set at birth. The only thing that changes is how consciously you live it.
- “Projectors and Reflectors are lazy.” They simply don’t have consistent Sacral energy — living according to their design is healthy, not lazy.

How do I find out my Type?

Why do some sources say four Types and others five?
Classically, there are four: Manifestor, Generator, Projector and Reflector. The Manifesting Generator belongs to the Generator family but is often shown separately, because its pace and the way it lives its Strategy are noticeably different.
Which Type is the rarest?
The Reflector — only about one percent of people. Generators (including Manifesting Generators) are by far the most common.
